Septic Tank Installation in Yallingup

Sewerage in the Yallingup townsite is of limited extent, so whether a lot can connect is the first question, not an assumption either way. The City of Busselton's policy for the Yallingup Special Character Area says the townsite has remained very small because of the limited extent of the sewerage system, the constraints of the National Park and the geography of the area.

Permits and City of Busselton rules

A septic system here needs the local government's approval before construction starts, whichever locality it is in: the Department of Health says it is an offence to start without an approval from the local government or the Department. This page does not say what any one lot needs beyond that. The City of Busselton can say for a lot, and the Water Corporation whether sewer reaches it.

Septic Tank Installation around Yallingup

The same policy says the townsite's small size is attributable to adherence to the original townsite subdivision layout and limitations to resubdivision created by the lack of reticulated sewerage facilities. It does not say which lots or streets are sewered, and no source read for this site does, so this page does not either. The State's table of localities with established reticulated sewerage schemes, in the Planning for Water Guidelines of December 2025, does not name Yallingup, and says lots outside the listed localities are generally serviced with on-site wastewater systems. The Water Corporation can say whether sewer is available to an address.

Where a lot is not connected, an onsite system has to fit a lot laid out as the original townsite was, and the City's approval, the tank-position rule and the permit to use apply as they do anywhere in the City. If the lot is later connected, the old tank has to be decommissioned: the decommissioning page sets out how.
